Kishwaukee United Way, Econ Illinois, and local partners are excited to continue the national Money Smart Week (MSW) initiative in DeKalb, LaSalle, and Lee County communities. This initiative brings together businesses, financial institutions, schools, libraries, not-for-profits, government agencies, and the media to share information and resources on personal finance topics.

Members of the community and financial literacy experts present information at many locations throughout Financial Literacy Month (April).  ALL PROGRAMMING IS FREE, covering many facets of personal finance, such as:

  • establishing a budget
  • first time home buying
  • estate planning
  • couponing
  • saving and investing
  • tax planning
  • college costs

A comprehensive list of topics are presented, and requests can be made. Please contact us if you have an idea or request! Social service and PTA groups, students of all ages, retirees, legislators, educators, businesses and their employees, faith-based groups, and all other community members are invited to attend sessions.

Each year some of the events are listed as private. Private sessions are not available to the public and will not be pulled up in a search.

If you have questions, are interested in hosting a school activity, in having a volunteer speaker visit a classroom/school, or having an industry professional present to your organization, please contact us.

Requests for events can occur throughout the year, with a listing of scheduled events available in April – due to the focus during National Financial Literacy Month
