The program saw 300 students participate statewide in the on-line preliminary round of competition in March.

The First Place team, Christofer Arbudzinski, Jake Gillespie, John Kulikowski, and Jacob Urban, along with their teacher Candace Fikis, received a trophy and framed certificate for their school, individual medals and certificates as well as Visa gift cards. The championship event consisted of individual, team and quiz bowl rounds of competition throughout the day. Tested topics included: Income & Money Management, Saving & Investing, and Spending & Credit.

The West Chicago team advanced to represent Illinois in the National Personal Finance Challenge held in Kansas City on Friday, May 22 to compete against teams from all participating states.

Naperville Central tested well all day and advanced to the final “Quiz Bowl” round of competition but was not able to outscore West Chicago Community High School. The Second Place team, Kevin Angell, Megan Angell, Isabel Fan, and Kevin Trickey, along with their teacher David Ashton, received a trophy and framed certificate for their school, individual medals and certificates as well as Visa gift cards.
